George Green is a world leading expert on broadband communication networks and last mile technology solutions. He has been instrumental in deploying broadband technologies throughout North America and the Asia Pacific for major North American Corporations for the past twenty five years. His broadband technology experience relates to Hybrid Fiber Coaxial networks, Set-Top and Pay TV systems, broadband modems for DOCSIS and DSL systems and steaming video and real time on-demand IPTV systems as well as satellite and wireless broadband communication systems.
George’s spent his first twelve years as a design engineer in Research and Development, working in designing Television Broadcast facilities in the UK, Designing Microwave and Satellite Communications Systems at Bell Northern Research in Ottawa, pioneering advanced broadcast television camera designs at CBS Labs in Connecticut and in designing broadband HFC and Pay TV systems while at Rogers Cable Systems in Canada.
Thereafter George has been instrumental in deploying digital video systems and broadband communications networks throughout the entire Asia Pacific region. In 1988, with Zenith Electronics he helped establish the first Pay TV system in Asia for RCTI in Jakarta and then moved to Scientific Atlanta (now Cisco) in 1990 to work on satellite digital video encryption systems. In 1993 George moved to Hong Kong as the Managing Director at General Instrument (now Motorola) and as MD at ANTEC (now Arris), related to deploying broadband communication systems. In the early nineties he worked with the DOC in Canberra to help them establish digital video standards for Australia.
In 1998 he returned to the USA as Director of Marketing at Matshushita Semiconductor Design Center based in Silicon Valley focused on directing product trends and in conducting competitive market analysis of System on a Chip (VLSI) technologies for broadband communication chipsets related to MPEG-2 video, cable modems, PC networking and VoIP applications. George then moved to SeaChange International responsible for VOD systems in broadcast and broadband IPTV applications. In 2002 he was a founder, board member and VP of Sales and Marketing at MediaCell Inc. based in Denver Co developing large scale wireless (Wi-Fi) broadband network technologies.
In 2007 George moved to ProVision Communication in Bristol England as the Director of New Business Development. ProVision is a digital video and consulting services company related to wireless video systems and developing H.264 codecs and OFDM modems for portable video and wireless home gateways over Wi-Fi, WiMAX and LTE. Provision also developed advanced RF network planning and optimizing software for WiMAX and LTE wireless networks. While there George was instrumental in focusing ProVision towards developing a wireless home gateway product for delivering HD digital video over Wi-Fi throughout the home.
In Aug 2008 George established his own company in Hong Kong, Pacific Broadband Inc., a leading broadband communication consulting and technology distribution company covering the Asia Pacific region. Pacific Broadband is focused on supporting and delivering a wide range of innovative broadband communication technologies and end-to-end system solutions for Satellite, Cable and Fiber networks and focused mainly on Japan, one of the most advanced broadband markets in Asia.
In 1971 George graduated from Plymouth Polytechnic in the UK with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) He has also been awarded two patents in the USA, one for a consumer electronics programmable remote control systems for Set Top terminals and another for broadband wireless systems. Amongst his many other achievements he has given numerous papers on new technology developments and trends throughout the entire Asia Pacific region.
Green's expertise in developing broadband communication and last mile broadband systems, set tops, modems, DOCIS cable, DSL, FTTH and Satellite and Wireless broadband applications provides Cox Media with the technical expertise and knowledge that cannot be matched in Australia.
